Strange things are happening...help

Has anyone had a problem like this...

When I turn on the ignition I get a strange combination of lights flashing the rev counter goes up to 6 tho and then returns to zero and the ignition light fade and the bike will not start. It can be jump started and then runs.

I thought it might be a flat battery but I’ve had it on charge with an optimate and it’s looking healthy.

It has happened all of a sudden too, last night I left work and it started first time. I then had a run in with a car, nothing serious, if fact , there was no damage to the bike at all, he decides to exit a roundabout across the from of me and I caught his wing with my off side rear foot peg. I stopped at a petrol station just to have a better look and switched the engine off. It then wouldn’t start, it must be coincidence and the impact was so light.

Any ideas chaps?

Could be....

This is a long shot but in car - meets bike situation you tend to grip the bars just a little more tightly, you haven't twisted the right-hand control (engine kill etc) on the bars.

As I said its along shot, but there might be a short circuit on this side of the bars in the controls area.

45 people so far have looked at your post with no suggestions, so for my sins, I hope you trace the fault......probably be something totally different to my ideas.

give this a go

sounds to me like youve got a bad earth try putting a jump lead to either the engine or a suitable earth point not battery then stick the poss jump lead to the poss on the battery and see if everythings normal,i think you get my drift.if in doubt gis a ring 07973 337307
