Before I send it off to Garmin I thought I'd check the font of wisdom on this here forum.

My SP III fails to power up on batteries or main power. When I use the car lead it is blowing the 1.5a fuse in the ciggy lighter pushy in thingy. :(

Anybody got any ideas before it gets shipped to Garmin in Romsey for investigation.

"Not power up" is that not a flicker from the screen or does it get part way through? Have you tried a master reset yet? If you do remember to take the map card out, as the reset wipes out just about everything. It even takes it back to its home in Taipan. I can't remember the exact procedure when my SP3 through a complete wobbly. It wasn't blowing fuses though.

Might be also worthwhile looking at the battery bay to check for corrosion etc.

Nothing, not a jot, not a flicker. No corrosion in battery compartment, it fails on batteries and mains.

Hi, If it's not under warranty take the back off and tighten the loose screw on the circuit board, I know of several cases of this now. It's not hard 8 small phillips screws on the back, undo these then pull the case apart carefully and on the battery compartment part of the case you will find the circuit board is screwed to the compartment it uses these screw to connect to the power , tighten then replace back cover, to ensure mine sealed again I used a very thin coating of silicone sealant on the seal. But as yours is blowing the fuse aswell it will probbably be something more serious.
