...or more pertinently, how to get it back together again :blast

switch.jpg

i've had this switchgear apart as the horn button failed (wire fallen off), and have got most of it back together. i got the dip rocker working but i'm struggling with the rotary lights on/off switch. it has a spring for the detent, and i guess it has a ball bearing too, though i've never seen it. i have a spare bb but it's a right bastard to assemble. i've been lucky to find the spring and ball several times now when they've boinged off.

any tips for reassembly. would be a shame to have to lob it even though it's not mine :)

The dip switch on mine has been sticking occasionally on main beam, blasting it with WD40 has no effect, and if I remember correctly it looked like it was held together with tubular rivets. Googling "tubular rivets" did turn up some sources, and that's as far as I got. I expect there is some sort of tool, perhaps some kind of pliers, to do the riveting. Has anybody any experience of using these rivets? I'm sure that having a selection of various rivets would come in handy for all sorts of little low voltage electrical repairs.

If it saved me around £80 for a new switch cluster it would pay for itself pretty darn quick. :)

well, no thanks to you lot, but i did get it back together again.

eventually :)
