Struggling with replacing shocks

I have had standard shock absorbers out and had them rebuilt - came out easily enough after removing bolts, removing rear wheel and silencer. and dropping catalytic converter. Have now gone to put both back in and really struggling with both - bottom of rear shock seems to wider than the gap! Is there something I am overlooking? :confused:

have they pressed a new bush in there ? It might actually be too wide if they have, can you measure the aperture/bush.

Thanks folks - the bush in the swinging arm was sitting proud so I sanded that down with some emery paper and got it to fit. Front went in fine when eventually found the right angle to insert it after turning the bars to the right. :thumb2

It slides if lubricated???? why sand it or do you prefer not lubed??
