Stuck DVD Drawer

I am sure I have seen this before but cannot find the answer.

PC is Win XP. MapSource Europe Update 2009 DVD finally received. Put it in the DVD Drawer and waited for it to load up. DVD green light now flashes all the time; cannot open drawer; lost the DVD Drive Letter on "My Computer. Assistance greatly appreciated in getting this drawer open - or am I fecked?

there's a little hole in the front use a pin and that should trigger the mechanism.

There should be a small pin hole on the drawer door which if you insert a straightened paper clip will release the door manually. Once opened try it with another disc to determine whether the Garmin disk is crud or your drive is.

I don't care what other people say - this site still ROCKS

Said instrument inserted into suggested hole; drawer eased open; DVD removed and system re-booted. Known workable DVD inserted; Drive Letter can be seen but message comes up "Please insert a DVD into Drive D", drive letter cannot be seen. Green light flashes.

Seems to have died - well it was old

Update:

Stood back and had a think. Uninstalled Driver - re-booted PC and it all works perfectly as it should. Job done, panic over

I know it's an oldish post, but brilliant.
I've just spent an hour taking my PC apart to try and release a stuck CD and decided to give up and ask here and straight away I find this.
Lesson for today then, check before trying things you are unsure about as the answer may already be here and you'll save some grief and an hour of your life.
