Worked this morning ... not now.
Any thoughts.

USB or SD/SM/CF card??

Either way, try and re-install the camera software first and try again.

Apart from that, I have no idea!

you should show the computer a pic of the camera it might just have forgot what it looks like;)

Do I detect a note of sarcasm here ?

I gave the computer a good talking-to, and it now recognizes the cameras.
I think my computer is developing Altzheimers .

Thanks all.

Why it worked before and not now, I have no idea.

I assume you have tried rebooting so I would suggest you reload the drivers. You should be able to get this from the camera manufactuters website or use the CD that came with the camera.

I would avoid loading all of the software from the CD as these applications have many useless add on that tend to take over your computer and affect startup times etc

I have a certain 100% solution. Go to the Apple home page . Go to the shop menu. Highlight one of their excellent laptops or imacs and proceed to checkout.
Problem ......... and all future problems solved!
It just works!:type

.......... or try to restore your pc to an earlier time to when you knew your camera / pc were on talking terms ?

get a card reader, they cost pennies off ebay - you no longer have the camera/pc interface.

you shouldn't need any specific drivers from the camera manufacturer. with xp, plugging it in should bring up the camera in Explorer as another drive.

if it doesn't do that, i suspect there is a problem with the USB drivers on your PC.

try

linking it to a friends/other PC, that way you'll know whether it's your computer or camera/USB lead that are faulty.
