Suddenly oil use

Hey, after a 100 mile ride yesterday I observed in the oil glass that the bike had used all the oil. When I left it was just above the red dot in center, and when I check the level today it was all gone.....
1100 gs with 60000 km on the clock.
Normal???

top it up make sure you carry oil with you

Never done this befor on a short trip. Oil is always with on a ride.

Did you allow time for the oil to drain back into the sump before you checked the level?

Best put some in it. 300 mm would do to start incase what was in there is hiding....

Unless the bike smokes heavily on startup every time or when engine braking (using gears and the engine to slow down) down hills (valve stem seals) I wouldn't be too bothered. The sight glass thing creates more problems than it solves.
100 miles for the oil to drop that much would clearly show the above issues clearly in blue smoke and heavy oily sooty deposits on the exhaust.

Oil level check, Allow the bike to rest on side stand for 15 mins then haul it onto the centre stand and have a look after a while, it should be half way up the sight glass.

edit, as described above too.

I personally wouldn't be panicking. check the level, top up, then check it again after doing 100 miles etc.

There is a drain point at the bottom of the airbox (exhaust side);any oil come out?.

Only a little smoke at cold start with choke on for 10 sec or so, not black. In the lack of better word all is/was normal with the old ladie except the high use if oil the last miles.

Understood.
Now using the correct procedure, check the oil level, top it up, then ride it for a hundred miles or k's. Stop and using the correct process, check the oil level again.

Unless you have an obvious oil leak, sooty exhaust or smokey startup or over-run ....things should be ok. OK?

the oil can't escape otherwise.

Some give bizarre readings
Yesterday out all day & oil on the middle dot when parked up on Centrestand
Came home & switched bike off on sidestand whilst talking to a neighbour for 10 mins
Fired her up to move it so I could wash it & then left her for a hour
Then the sight glass shows no oil now
Must be stuck in the oil cooler as it's not gone anywhere
