When did you change your alternator belt?
I have seen this to happen to the Hall sensors.

Belt was changed last year at 40K and again before that about 3 years ago - not sure that has damaged anything.

I hope not - bike has done about 10K since the swap, unfortunately the garage here is shut on Mondays so I may have some more news tomorrow morning. Meantime AA European Cover have given us a car and we went up Col de l'Iseran at 2770M - not the same in a hire car though... plenty of bikes out despite the pouring rain and temperature at the top of just 3 degrees

That was one of the peaks I cycled up last Summer, a lovely climb,weather was lovely then though.
Yes I am an avid road cyclist off to Morzine in the Alps on Monday for a week of cycling. Is your bike now all sorted? I know how I felt last week when my Hall's went can't imagine what a nightmare it must be abroad.

Cheers mate yes all done - my main worry was i had my son with me first time as a long distance pillion... but he was as good as gold and the AA European cover was worth every penny of the £135 I pay for annual Europe cover.

He's learnt as much of a lesson as you......maybe even more in a way.

I've experienced instant failure of the Hall Sensor. Fired up my old bike to head out on a big trip and it was running fine. Put it into gear and rode about 25 metres before the bike instantly gave up the ghost. I'm now on my second Adventure and hoping it keeps going.
