Hey all,

I'm planning a spin up around Scotland over the Easter weekend with the better half on the back. Was wondering if anyone has some good routes that they could suggest? Base camp for me is Dundee (don't ask) and ideally I'm looking for some routes that offer good scenery but aren't too technical - it's her first time on the back and if I get to excited about flicking the bike from left to right it might be her last.

Anyway if anyone has a Garmin compatible route or a few waypoints they would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Routes

You wanting routes out and back to Dundee? most people just wanna get oot. What you reckon her max time in the saddle? You geared to do an overnighter. Any place you really wanna see? My first bit of advice is stay off the A90 bit of a drudge and plenty of cash cams and talivans.

As a first time out with her I reckon I'll try to keep it to a 4/5 hour spin from Dundee and back. Some coast roads would be nice. Break half way for lunch.

Doyle had mentioned some good roads, you might want to incorporate them into your holidays....the route is sort of forming for the highest roads run in May, you may want to do some tinkering with it....good luck.....:thumb

start-Creiff A85-gilmerton,A822,turn up glen quaich.
kenmore-killin, south side of loch tay.
killin-glen lochay over lairig nan lunn.
top of glen lyon-bridge of balgie.
[possibly stop for soup/tea at boxertools bench].
bridge of balgie over lochan na lairige to loch tayside.
then to pitlochry A827. -over A924/B950.
turn north A93-crathie,turn north B976-A939
tomintoul-speybridge A95-aviemore-glenmore campsite.

Some nice routes there but there's a few good roads near Dundee withoot making Crieff your startin' point. It's about a 60 minute run just to get there.

For one: Glen Isla over to the A93 and up to Braemar is a good run. Take the loop from there over to Ballater and head back to Dundee over the Cairn o' Mount and take the back roads down through Fettercairn, Kiriemuir and Glamis. That's a good four hour run with some great roads and scenery.
