Having run out of random relatives spending the summer working with us we are looking for a victim for summer 2014.

May to 3rd week in September, to help mainly with serving food and drinks to our guests. So 4pm onwards leaving the days free to explore the area/lounge around doing sod all/study. Previous incumbents have combined all three with cadging the odd pillion ride! Use of company push bike is also included.

This is on an internship/work experience basis, we provide a room (with a pretty amazing view) all meals, a little pocket money plus a share of the tips. If there is interest we are happy to include experience of other parts of the business to broaden the whole work experience thing.

We offer the chance to experience life in another country, learn a new language (German) and to see the summer unfold in the Alps. You will be part of our team, which operates in a non-hierarchical basis: if something needs doing we all work together to get it done. We are blessed with wonderful guests and have a lot of fun just being here.

So if anyone has a son or daughter you would like to offload for the summer, or you or someone you know fancies a sabbatical please let me know. A positive attitude is far more important than previous experience. Being able to fit in with our (admittedly quirky) ways is the key. Best contact is the hotel Email

If I had no family commitments - I'd be out on my bike like a shot

What a great experience, suit a retiree too:augie

What a grand opportunity for someone. Both my lasses have flown the nest:D and sadly work gets in the way or I'd gladly offer my services. Right up my street is that. Will check out if any of my students are interested. :thumby:

Hat off to you John - what a great opportunity for someone. Right now I wish were in between jobs!

If my daughter wasn't off to America to mentor at a Summer Camp, I'd be pointing this out to her.

A good opportunity for some lad or girl to go abroad in reasonably safe surroundings (I don't think most of Europe is full of monsters, by the way) and practice (or even learn) some German into the bargain. The only problem I can see with the start date is that it may well clash with some schools' exams.

My nephew, now working as the (very successful) manager of a large hotel chain in Australia, did something similar in the 1990's in France and then South Africa. It looked really good on his CV and he learned a lot about the basics. It looked good on his CV not because he had some high powered job in the hotels he worked in, nor were they particularly grand. It was because he had made the effort to do it, gaining confidence in what he could do for himself.

Thanx. Forwarded to my wife's niece. She also does a bit of modelling, does that help (not Airfix before any of you clever feckers comment)?

Absolutely, we are not ageist, being shall we say "mature" ourselves. As I said the important thing is that whoever comes fits in and enjoys life here, Nobody want their beer served by a unhappy person. All enquiries will be treated seriously so age is no barrier (within reason, Ros was an educational social worker and still has hang ups about child labour!)

I must be careful how I answer that one, Ros has been known to log in to see what I am up too. Anyway I will say having done a bit of modelling would be no hindrance to an applicant.

I'll apply in the next few days if my job interview falls through on Thursday. Worse is, I am interviewing along with 6 other candidates for my own job! That's what happens when you become a teacher, and accept a 1 year post (been there 5 months now, so I guess if I don't get it - real possibility - I was shit in the first instance anyway!). So, come Thursday evening I may just be looking for something to fill my time with!

Share of tips, damn, I forgot to leave one, but better late than never......

..... Don't expect any from any biker who has had to pay his away across Switzerland to reach you!

Fantastic opportunity for some youngster, I can vouch for what a great place to doss a summer away this is, as for the company pushbike, what happened to that hideous BMW someone forgot to take with them when they left ?

That's you off my Christmas list! I'll have you know that fine machine is a K75S. The poor thing lost drive on the way here and after it transpired that it's owner had not arranged breakdown insurance and the local dealer quoted 1500 euros to fix it a deal was done. I parted with 4 of our world famous " Gasthof Hochalmspitze" T shirts and gained a winter project.

Last summer I gave the K75 to a visiting friend for a week- it was the most modern bike he had ever ridden, back home in NZ he has an old Norton. Anyway he had no problems keeping up with our ride out groups.

So show some respect for this classic machine!
