Can anyone recommend a sensibly priced summer jacket/trousers that means I'm not going to melt as my HG summit will be a tad warm if we get a warm summer.

I've worn mine in temperatures up to 40 deg C and high humidity on long rides across the plains of Midwest USA and it also works fine in our "summer". It's not waterproof but an oversuit or Gore-Tex liners cures that.
