Ok then, whose up for a ride. Meet at the BP garage in St Ives opposite the Manchester Arms Pub at 09.15 for a 09.30 promt departure. Taking in some of my favorite 'GS' roads with little or no other traffic. No particular destination just a vague circular route (mainly Cambs, but may include Beds, Herts), couple of cafe's, etc, etc. Please ensure you have a full tank of fuel and feel free to go home when you have had enough:aidan As with most ride outs, you do so at your own risk. I intend to use the drop off system for keeping the group together so if you are not sure how this works please google it. Oh and I'm after a 'Tail end Charlie' to keep the order.

That should of course read "who's..........":augie

Might join you on this one - I will confirm a bit nearer the time

As I sit here reading through posts, there seems to be a common whinge. "Not enough ride outs". So I sort one out, and get 2 replies, both of them maybe's. What do you want FFS? Rough route attached, but I'm not going to use the GPS for guidance, it spoils the fun. Too long? Too short? Come on. I'll enjoy it anyway :rob

Greetings,

Nothing wrong at all with the ride out at all.

To be constructive, I would suggest a later departure time to allow people to come from further afield, and maybe encourage the "usual suspects" to meet at their local points such as Boreham and Thetford and then ride over to you. This seems like a recipe for success.

good luck!

Hi, Sorry cant make it as away at the coast for a long weekend ! with the :blagblah

Bit gutted as it goes almost past my door :augie

Just a suggestion but the route looks a bit short for an all day why not go through Saffron Walldon and Audley end and on to the b1038 (past Clavering the cricketers Mr Olivers old gaff and not a bad road) over the A10 on to the A507 (short but the best biking road in the area)
:D
wish i was riding out :(

I travelled some of the route today, its a good run up towards kimbolton, glad you have not picked the b660, as its now full of 40s now, well done for coming up with a route, i have done some of it out of kimbolton and have various other options, but good to see another viewpoint.

sadly, i will not be able to make it, off to silverstone sunday, and also going on a rideout saturday, leaving 1030 ish from red lodge, near bury st edmunds, feel free to come along. its a run to hunstanton

would have been good to have something local for this area, rather than the run to thetford for a start point,

if you fancy knocking another time or route together, will be glad to help out, will even do the tecing for you, as quite enjoy that.

Kept is short as I KNOW all my ride outs exceed their distance and time, I'm hoping the earlier start time will give a more comfortable start to the ride temperature wise and appreciate that not all can get a full days pass to 'go and play'. The route will change, the attached garmin is just for indication. I will probably avoid the 'best biking roads' as being a sunday they will be full of twats on sports bikes slowing the progress.
