Did anybody else get a mail from BMW or their dealer saying they are expecting supply issues across the continent for all models?

Even going so far as saying to talk to them if you are on finance and usually roll over onto a new bike.

Strange to come out and mail people as we all expect a bit of supply disruption over the past year. Unless it’s they are trying to get a bunch of early orders in

When I picked up my new GSA at the beginning of August, the sales guy said they were expecting supply issues in the autumn. He mentioned the factory that makes the ESA units was flooded out when Germany had the bad rain in early summer.

No email from my local dealer. But they have emailed me a stonking deal on an R18, which is very tempting.

Im sure I read the Getrag plant ( car gearboxes) also suffered in the flooding.

Ahh that makes sense. Take a while to repair the factory even in good circumstances

I had an email from Cotswold with 3 themes:
a) we have some new bikes in stock and extolled the benefits of buying "off the peg" with a pitiful £500 deposit contribution
b) we will pay good prices for your bike (that's a lie, I asked a few weeks ago about a "deal" on an F900XR)
c) please, please, please buy an R18 with 0% finance

I don't think it is very different to any other email sent this time of year. They are always keen to shift any stock left from the current model year. What they are less likely to get are deposits from punters pre-ordering 2022 bikes as people will not want the uncertainty of not getting a bike in time for a planned trip in the spring. End of Q2 in 2022 will be crunch time as they usually get very busy just before Easter with the workshop full of bikes having a PDI and loads of payments coming in from the finance company over the next few months.

Had supply issues two years ago when I bought my 1250. Seven week waiting list and just before delivery “there was a problem” and delivery would be delayed. It was only when I threatened to cancel the order that they magically pulled some strings and got it back on schedule.
There are plenty of manufacturing stickers on the bike suggesting it was only assembled a couple of weeks before it was delivered. With such tight supply chains any disruption causes havoc. Two years ago there may have been a little slack in the system. I doubt there is any now.
