Surface mounting cigar lighter socket

I'm trying to find 4 cigar lighter sockets that I can surface mount to a nice black plastic box and which I can use to supply power to a range of power connectors which terminate in a standard car cigar lighter plug.

I want to keep to this format 'cos each of the power leads supplies power to different electrical toys at varying voltages ... why is life so complicated?

Maplin can't supply except with an inline socket which wouldn't be the neatest solution.

Nippy Norman sells one that can be disassembled to surface mount (as I've done on the beak of my bike).

You can get twin socket adaptors from many automotive accessory retailers such as Motorvation,Motorworld,Pitstop and possibly Halfrauds...so maybe they`d be a good starting point (doubling up on them ) ?

ive got a triple one fitted in the van, it auto cuts out if the battery drops bellow a certain voltage so as not to flatten it got it from halfords for about £10

I never thought to look in Halfords, mainly 'cos in my experience they tend to be somewhat expensive. I can make do with 3 - MP3 player, Kenwood radio, Autocom. But it would be nice to have a socket for a phone. Perhaps two such devices ....

I may go look tomorrow.

I never even thought to look at NN - I'd noticed DIN sockets on his site before, but not regular car-sized units. But £12 each??

My show-off 16 yr old rolled his eyes and asked why I wasn't able to get a result from Google and promptly found a company called Sutar from Sweden that does just what I want from a few outlets (no pun intended) around the UK. I hate 16yr old show-offs .... I'll ask him to explain the 3rd law of thermodynamics, that'll put him in his place.

The current drain protection won't be needed as power will be fed to the device from a switched supply, so once the ignition is off, everything will just die!

I'll trog down to Halfords .. they may be costly but by the time you've added postage costs to anything you buy online, it may not be any more in total.

For anyone who is interested, the sailgb site also has cig lighter plugs for around 1 quid and DIN plugs for about £1.50.

That's a solution.

I have a Boxer Design panel infill there which carries the two heat controller knobs for my Gerbing gear. http://www.boxer-design.de/en/Instrublendee.htm

I, too, am not overly concerned about the power draw. I took a switched supply from the orange connector under the tank and have run the cable back under the seat. I'm looking to add a quick release connector to my Baglux MiniTT in which will sit my Autocom, Kenwood radio, MP3 player and mobile phone.

Regrettably I can't see any simple way of linking my Autocom PTT button to the radio. So it looks as though I'll have to put up with running that cable from under the seat and looped into the top zip of the Baglux. I hope that will prove to be waterproof.

I guess I could get the connection diagram from Autocom and fix a 5-pin DIN socket through the side of the tank bag but that all starts to see complicated - if a very neat solution.
