Just bought a pair of SW Motech Bars for my R1150gs, Anyone (plenty I'm sure) got any constructive comments on problems encountered fitting these? Don't tell me I shouldn't have bought them!

I'm new to GS ownership and am still trying to get years of Honda thinking recycled.
:help

If for a GS12 you need T55 socket other than that search for Motech there are a few tips on fitting.
Thanks, there's loads of stuff for me to plough through. Should have thought of searching first rather than asking a dumb question! Not only new to BMWs but also GSer.com

My husband fitted these engine bars to his GS a couple of weeks ago. Although he had to buy some torx sockets and a torque wrench first, it was quite straightforward (especially for me, standing watching ;) ) using the instructions downloaded from Nippy Norman's where we bought them, .

And if you`d have been polite enough to say 'Hello' in the Newbies Forum,we could have welcomed you aboard....

Is this tongue in cheek?
I hope so

If not, is it really the way to welcome a new member, who sounds as if he is unfamiliar with the 'etiquette' of this forum?

Please tell me I have misinterpreted the above.

Sadly, I think it's not tongue in cheek, but I stand to be corrected. Some people are unforgiving souls, and of course never ever make mistakes themselves :D

Welcome to the site mate, made the same mistake myself and got some stick for it, although it was 'tongue in cheek' and made me smile.

I do beg "one's pardon"! After browsing through other comments on the site I didn't realise I would be spotted being so inpolite not to introduce myself. Anyway I have been called worse things by many for buying a BMW. No offence taken by any comments and I am only too happy to be able to join in the "crack". (I'm from Belfast if you didn't already know).

Tarka, have you really nothing better to do than 'Police' the Newbies picking on the slightest wee thing

Fitting SW Motech Bars

Thanks for the interest, fitting the bars was really staight forward even though the fitting instructions are extremely concise! Eveything was delivered in good shape and no missing items. I ordered from Nippy Normans on-line on a Friday evening and the parcel arrived the following Tuesday @ 8:30am. I had read reports about NN's having a good turn-around time on oreders and this most certainly backed them up.
I actually had more problems getting the front wheel out for other work as the Allen heads on some of the brake caliper and fork leg bolts were well and truely buggered. I got all of them out by using a slightly oversized Torx head which tapped into the Allen head and bit in really well.

Nice one

Same here, would have been easier if I'd removed the tank, but, managed OK in the end. Unfortunately a little hiccup in the delivery process, but resolved all the same. :thumb
