SW Motech Frames (Traxx Panniers) '08 1200GS

I haven't received the panniers yet (waiting for a black pair). But received the SW Motech frames from Nippy Norman's and fitted them yesterday afternoon (despite a hangover :() the frames are very quick and easy to fit once the mounting are attached to the bike itself and there's not much left on the bike when the frames are removed. I took a few photos which I have attached if anyone's interested. I have also got the inner bags for the panniers - look very well made. Will post some photos with the panniers on the bike when I receive them :)

look a good job indeed :thumb2

prob not as entertaining to fit as MM ones though :D

I think that you have fitted the 'L' shaped silver brackets on the rear of the frames, the wrong way round. The 'hook' piece is to lock your panniers on. The way you have fitted them you will not be able to get your panniers on. Refit the LH bracket on the RH frame and the RH on the LH frame. When you get your panniers you will see why.

I have had my panniers and mounts for 3 weeks now and find them very good.

I was wondering if I had fitted those correctly :mmmm. The additional instructions specific to the Traxx mountings didn't show the brackets very clearly - thankfully easy to swap over! Thanks for the info :beerjug:

Any chance of a pic from the back showing the offset of the boxes? Also how wide are they when fitted?

Cheers

I haven't got the boxes yet, but will post when I do. I have opted for a 37 litre left box and a 45 litre right.

Where from ?
:mmmm

Got mine from BykeBitz in Yately. Excellent service from them. They underquoted Nippy Normans and only had to wait 3-4 days for them. I did collect themmyself to save postage as i travell that way quite alot.

How long does it take to attach the frames? Is it a 30 second job, or ten minutes?

I fancy a set of these but don't want to ride round with the frames on when the panniers aren't.

Thanks.

Matt

It's a 30 second job - all you need is a small wide blade screwdriver, or a 2p coin - job done :clap

Thanks for that :thumb it looked to be that way but I was just checking.

On the negative side, it looks like it's going to cost me £579......

Panniers

Nice photos (except for the size of those chicken strips !!!):augie . I was thinking of changing my varios to traxx's. What size panniers have you ordered? oops just read the rest of the thread, youve already said.

Only just found out what 'chicken strips' are. :mmmm Bike only has 200 miles on the clock (mostly in London!) so hope to bed in the tyres a bit this weekend on a trip down to Poole :D

Shame

Having collected my 1200GS Adventure yesterday (trading in a K1200S) I was looking forward to ordering the black TraX panniers and top box today, having done some (inadequate) research earlier. As Yoda would say, disappointed I was to discover that the TraX is only intended for the GS1200 and not the Adventure. Back to BMW's dull by comparison product.

Without wanting anyone to state the bleedin' obvious but what is different about a GSA vs GS so that you can't fit the Trax panniers?

More to the point, I've read all about these panniers on here, I've seen them on their website but as yet no-one has posted pictures of them fitted to a GS.

Is that because they haven't materialised yet or because they don't fit well and owners are too ashamed to post? :nenau

Just got back from a 10 day trip around France, using my Traxx panniers. Absolutly no problems. Because i am not a subscriber i cannot post photo's. I shall send photo's to another user who will hopefully post them for me.
