Hi guys,

I've got a 21 GSA TE with a factory fitted USB in the cockpit and a BMW Socket under the seat on the left side. I want to change out the BMW socket and put an SAE connection in its place. I can't see a way of accessing the BMW plug, removing and replacing. There is no room down there to get it out. I fear I'm going to have to remove a lot of electronics to gain access. Anyone done it, tips and tricks?

Regards,

Tony

I fitted this. Direct to battery via fuse. It's to power my compressor.

I don't have the socket under my seat as I have a 2020 GS but I have installed a SAE connector on a flying fused lead connected straight to the battery using the negative post on the battery and the positive jump lead post to connect my optimate, airman pump or heared vest to which might be a simpler option for you?

Thanks, I've already done this but would love to fit a socket. The useless to me BMW socket is the obvious candidate but its virtually impossible to get at...

I did the same. Bought out of Halfords and connected straight to battery. Use it for running my airman pump.

New socket under seat is 12v, and it turn off automatic after 15 minutes when bike closed, so I was told by my BMW dealer

Yep, thanks. I want/will use the SAE plug for my air compressor, camping compressor, heated gear rider and pillion etc. The Canbus system just won't do it limited as it is. I had the same set up on my K1600 though there was much more room under the bonnet for installations etc. The useless 'to me' BMW socket is the obvious candidate to replace but I can't see how I can get to it without removing a great deal of the underseat electronics....Angels fear to tread and all that.

Thanks to all that have replied.....enjoyed the "Watt ever" am still chuckling. I do miss the UK humour, I live in Austria, nuff said.

Yes plug good for Optimate canbus or BMW charger, and that should be fine, good thanks for the correction teachers, it helps.
