You will get more help if you provide more info.

What type of route do you like, motorway or backroads?

What type of accomodation do you like, 5 star hotels or campsites?

Where is your start point, Calais?

+1, we stayed here last year! :thumb

Make sure you get to andermatt for a couple of nights to take in the Furka, Grimsel, Susten, St Gothard and Nufenen Passes.

I also stayed in livigno, cheap fuel, plenty of places to eat etc. only downside is getting in / out of Valley, but overall well located for many asses (Stelvio, Gavia, Bernina, Fluella, Majola, Albula, Umbrail, Julier, Ofen, Splugen etc.)

Andermatt to livigno is an easy run with a choice of passes enroute, from livigno you can get out and over the Timmelsjoch and into Austria.

I stayed in Andermatt and Livigno this year, more info here.

Oh and another thumbs up for Haus Elisabeth Schwarz in Stanzach. I've been there several times and it's always superb :thumb2

I always recommend http://www.valleyhostel.ch which is in the amazing Lauterbrunnen Valley. Ideal stopover before you hit the Alpine passes....

Twas a bloody good trip and shown most of the routes as google maps....

This link gives you an idea of what Lauterbrunnen and the Swiss Alps has to offer http://http://www.boxhill.co.uk/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21534&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

If your leaving Friday afternoon, you may be able to get here for Saturday evening, if not maybe stop a bit further North and then try to get to Andermatt the following day.

As you only have 9 days including your Friday afternoon, you are gonna lose two each way getting to and From the Alps leaving just five full days.

I would suggest having just a couple of places in the Alps, the Luaterbrunnen Valley and Andermatt are great and not too far out, Italy and Austria are further.

Perhaps pick two places with a great selection of routes you fancy, as stated I can recommend Andermatt, also the Mont Blanc region was good for us and within a two day trip of the UK, as to are other French Alps locations, you could take in La Bonnette and a few of the other highest roads in the Alps around the Grenoble area.

What I did discover is it is hard to find anywhere that is not Amazing once in the Alpine region :thumb2
