I bought one from a dealer last November, and was trying it on etc at home that night, (the way you do) when I noticed that the lining had torn, next to the buckle. The lining kinda protects the buckle, and it was where this lining joined the lining around the base of the helmet.
I immediately took it back to the dealer, and the helmet was replaced.
Now, having only used this helmet several times, I see that the same thing has happened again, and wonder if anyone else has had similar probs. I am tempted to believe that it may be my fault in the way I put it on, but have never seen this happen before in 16 years of biking, including three previous BM helmets. Anyone had similar experiences. :nenau

System 5 helmet....

Hi

I have had three System 5 helmets since they were launched......

The first one displayed the same problems as yours after only a few weeks use and was immediately replaced by Motorrad Central in Glasgow.

The second one I had for about 6 months (before it was stolen, along with the bike etc etc.......) and had no such problems......

The third, I still have, and after five months/6000 miles is still pristine......

I believe there was a problem with the early ones but the current one seems to be made much better.

Cheers

Yes sir, they all do that.

I've had four replacement pad/straps for the left side and two for the right. The left hand side has now gone again. I was told all the replacement pads were manufacturered at the same time as the original problem helmets, hence getting a replacement pad/strap is a waste of time.

I think it's about time I gave up and asked for a replacement helmet.

Thanks for the info guys. I am tempted to repair the damn thing myself, but it sounds as if it will just re-occur, so that may just make the warranty useless. Will visit the dealer again tomorrow and see what is offered. :thumb
