Internet dies everynight about 6pm to 11pm. Most DNS queries fail, sometimes can't ping sites. Anyone else finding TalkTalk have overloaded their broadband network?

Probably 2/3 of all queries don't get through. Started a week ago and I'm getting angry...

Spent about 4 months getting shite service and crap response from TwatTwat. Totallyabsolutleyfrikkinguseless in all respects. Seems things haven't changed.

my connections drops every 10 minutes or so, for about 2 minutes, then reconnects. its a real pain and i am going to switch to someone else i think.

I'm connected but there's no traffic throughput. Even loading this page took five attempts. Now 22:08 and still knackered. It'll be fine when everyone logs off for the night though.

is it just the dns? Try opendns.org for some server addresses and see if it improves.

We went to talk talk some months ago. My Wife must have spent two weeks on the phone trying to sort problems with them but got nowhere. It was so bad, I could get the UKGSER site up, but trying to page through or open anything was painful often resulting in a time-out.

Eventually got an apology from them that they had not delivered what they said they would, and moved back to Tiscali. I will never touch them again. Absolute garbage in my opinion.

Been with them 6 months the only problems i have had have all been dns related, i think their dns servers are pretty naff as someone else said give opendns a go.

I am on a BT business broadband at £20 a month and have never had any of these problems.

I can phone a person and although the BT switchboard is a bit painful you get thru in about 5 mins.

I guess if you pay peanuts you get monkeys...

Never thought I would say a good word for BT... but there you go:rolleyes:

instead of using the ISP DNS, which appears to be duff, hardcode the public opendns servers to provide the translation from www.xyz.com to ip address.

(Though Snoopy hasn't com back with any results as yet).

In the properties of your lan connection for broadband, tell your system to point at the servers provided by opendns.

There should be a militant group, that rids the planet of Talk Talk, CarPhone Warehouse and all that they stand for.
I found their service more than useless, constantly dropping out etc..
Decided to rid myself of them, then had to get my transfer code!!!!
Oh boy did I then have trouble!!!! It took weeks and many 'snotograms' before I could rid myself of their deadly clutch.
Now with Zen, and its like a breath of fresh air.

I have to be in the minority. Had talk talk for ayear now. Lost the phone service for a few hours twice, and I do have the occasioanl DNS problem too but nothing major.

When I have had problems they have answered the phone immediately, dealt with the problem or kept in very good communication whilst sorting it.

I did have aproblem that too a while to sort out and was left on hold for ages once but their initial diagnosis was correct , it was my own router that was the problem:augie

It's not their DNS. I've also tried pinging every computer on the tracepath and all working ok. The traffic just goes very slowly and sometimes fails.

As it happens in the evening at peak time I can only presume their gateway system is overloaded. That or the main BT exchange. Sometimes a tracepath will take 30 second to a server in the U.S

I rang up yesterday to complain. I explained that their or BT's local infrastructure was overloaded. She tried to say my router isn't supported! to which I told her I was a system admin to shut her up. She put the phone down on me!
