I have got a BMW tailpack but that is a bit of pain to keep taking on and off and am considering getting myself a tankbag.

I have had a look on the sites and there seems to be a lack of photos and definitive descriptions of whats available.

My brother-in-law has a nice small Touratech one, with a moulded bottom, for his 1200gs that fits on with velcro at the back and two twist clips at the front. Is the Touratech one for the 650 the same fitting.

So what do you use, is it any good and what does it look like?

Thanks

Nigel

Most of what is available is on the Chain Gang site here -

http://faq.f650.com/GSFAQs/AftermarketLuggageFAQGS.htm

But I use a cheap Oxford 1st time tailpack and/or the Givi Roll bag both of which you can fix on and take off in seconds.

I bought a used BM tank bag, second-hand, for £50 several years ago and it has been excellent. There was discussion at the time that the zips were not very good but there has been no problem and it's easy to take off/put on though it usually stays on the bike. The waterproof cover is okay for the worst weather though it does restrict access.

I had a 650 and the only way to go is a top box. Secure storage, helmet in gear out , gear in, helmet out. No amount of bags wil do the same job. Just an opinion, more money but not in the long term.

I do not generally commute on the bike and do not really need anywhere secure to leave stuff hence the lack of the top box.

I was thinking along the lines of a small, 5-10 litres, bag to use for the odd trip out to hold the necessary, wallet, keys, mobile etc...

I will duck over to F650.com but from memory there are no good photos of how the bags fit etc..

Thanks

Nigel

Held do some very well designed bags.

One specifically for the 650GS, which fits the tank shape perfectly.

My partner has just purchased their tank-bag / backpack design. This would make a perfect camera back with a bit of foam to support the delicate camera gear both on and off the bike.

Great thing with Held bags is that they are very good value £35 to £45 for most types, downside is that few stockist’s in the Uk so they take several weeks to obtain.

Hi

Can you confirm which part #s your partner has got. I am thinking 4004 as the base plate, but would be intereted in what is the "real" size of the bag compared to the photos!

Thanks

Nigel

4003 is the base plate used for the 650. The top straps fit nicely around the headstock and the base fits to the frame under the seat.

When the bag is removed the base plate remains. If you want to tuck it away just lift the seat, fold the base plate under the seat and replace the seat. It takes a few seconds to pull it out for use.

The velco attatchement is very sturdy and it stays put on the tank at speeds up to 100mph.

Sorry, It's a famsa FA244/11Enduro with 12 litres storage expandable to 19. Also got 3 pockets ideal for change, keys or mobile, and a clear map pocket on top.

Which model 650 did u have it fitted to?

If anyone wants it I've got a Touratech Tank Bag available free to anyone who would like it - unfortunately the leather brackets which hold it to the bike were stolen along with my old bike, but it might be worth seeing if Touratech will sell you just the attachments.
