Tank protector pads - removal

Hello all,

I have a set of tank protector pads fitted to my GSA. They were on it when I bought the bike and are starting to look a bit tired. There is one either side, where ones knees grip and one going up the center, where ones bollocks might end up in the event of a mishap. I think Nippy Normans did them. Anyhow, I'd like to remove them if possible and was wondering about how to achieve this without screwing up the paint work underneath. It's a silver tank - the fast one!

Hair dryer on hot setting.

And plenty of patience.

Dan if the above doesn't work try a 3M's "stripe off wheel" its like a circular rubber eraser that you use in a drill, I've removed many stickers and decals and it will not damage paintwork.

Search 3M's website under automotive for stripe off wheel.

Stuff called 'stick stuff remover'. Search on line or in hardware shops. Peel as much off as possible, then soak in the remover and it softens the glue, no damage to paint work. It needs patients, but works a treat on most glues. It's a liquid so lasts ages.

Removed some from the Triumph Legend a few weeks ago using a hair dryer (the wimin type, not the mod version) and it worked a treat, just go steady and you'll be fine.
Didn't leave any sticky residue at all, just a bunch of scratches they were hiding.

Thanks all, some good ideas there. I had not thought about any scratches they could be covering.
