Apparently we're also going to need a bigger anorak.....
Mike
ps I'm pretty sure the 1100/1150 tanks are identical in design and capacity, although some early 1100s had plastic tanks - someone else may be able to advise you on the capacity of those....
From BMW Website tank capacity of R1100GS is quoted at 25 litres.
The BMW Website also quotes the R1150GS data but in a completely different way: Usable tank volume 22.1 litres and a reserve of around 4 litres.
Maybe they got their wrists slapped by saying the R1150GS had a 25 litre tank when its usable volume was different. I know that aircraft have to quote tank volume and usable tank volume. None of which helps you with your answer!
If you're thinking of fitting the plastic 1100 tank it may not be as straight forward as you think. I tried putting a metal 1150 tank on my 1100. The front of the tanks are completely different.
What a suprise, that's an 1150 tank, trying to fit an 1100. I'm amazed you got that far. I thought you would have gone by now anyway, don't tell me you're staying
Yes this "usable volume" is a grey area. I put 27.6 litres in a bone dry 1150 tank (has filler drilled hole mod)... not sure how much of this is usable??? I have been stuck before out of juice and layed bike over and got a good liter or two to the other lobe... also not so sure about this trick as the pump needs to be immersed or will burn out... anozer von of ze BMVEE mizterieez,no?
NOPE you wrong the words are when he spots the fish for the first time "were gona need a bigga boat " now will somebody tell me about the tank is it the same size and dimentions or not ?
