My 1100gs has been fitted with an 1150 adventure tank. I’ve developed arthritic hips which are less painful when a tank is narrower between the knees. Obviously the adventure tank is wide across the middle but it does narrow down a lot to the knee area. Anyone know if the standard 1100 tank is narrower at the back end than the 1150 adventure ? This would then be a worthwhile swap for me as I can live without the adv range. I have already fitted lower pegs.

I have a couple of spare black standard tanks that you could do a trial fit with, if you like. They’ve lived in the roof of my garage for the last 20yrs or so…

How much do you want for the Adv tank? :nenau :D I’ve been sort of looking for one for ages.

If there is a difference it’s not enough to notice - I’ve both an ADV and standard GS in the workshop today, I’ll measure them later

Sorry for jumping in Paul ; are your standard tanks plastic or metal; my plastic one is bubbled up and i've been thinking about asking BMW to honour their recall to swop it out; i know it's pushing it a bit but who knows; :D

Very little difference at rear of tank I ran an Adventure tank on my 1150 with standard twin seats, so a standard 1150 gs tank is 10 1/2 " at the point where the seat meets and wraps around the tank and 13" where the tank starts to splay out past the knee cutouts

Get in line… There was a reason for my offer 😉

Mine are both metal, though one was repaired/repainted after a small dent.

Seems like I might as well stick with the tank I've got which does offer more weather protection and keep working on the physio. Thanks for all the replies and measuring Neil.
