When I turn off the ignition after even a short ride of say 15 mins the exhaust makes a loud(ish) tapping noise for 10 minutes or so. Is this a problem and any idea of what it might be, or how to fix it? :thumb2

I disagree, I would think its the interlocked coolant override servo pump, suffering a rapid shock in depressurisation following a terminal crash of the canbus cyrogenic invertors.

That or the exhaust is cooling down and contracting.:beerjug:

Its most certainly just the exhaust naturally contracting as it sheds heat- there is a surprising amount of metal on and in there, all expanding and contracting at differing rates.

It sometimes helps and might be an idea to loosen and then re-tighten the mounting bracklets etc and/or spray a bit of WD40 or somesuch around as it might just need a bit of "easing"

My HP2 sport when it was new made an almighty shreechy crack after about 5 mins of cooldown which always scared the bejesus out of me - I did the above, never heard a murmur after that :thumb2

Nah that is all a load of bollocks if you dont get the angle of the dangle proportionate to the heat of the meat this will happen.

It ridiculous answers like this that result in us being called "Tossers". Everyone knows its the tiny exhaust mice trying to escape. They become trapped when BMW make the exhaust silencer, hence BMW also fit a CAT in the exhaust system to try to solve the problem by catching them :beerjug:

It was very amusing when I told my 4 year old about the tiny exhaust mice, his litte face was a picture, as was mine when I found he'd started feeding them by poking food into the end of the exhaust

I wondered who would be first to spot my spoof answer :D
