Hey all

Any ideas how to get rid of the 'pinking' or tapping noise from the right cylinder on an 06 1200GS? i.e.
How do you adjust the tappits?

If you look under 'Font of all Wisdom' section, Steppers has done a very good write up of how to do the 'End float and valve clearances'. Its easy to do just take your time. (Or just bring your bike down to Oxfordshire and I'll do them for you)

Sounds like it could be the throttle butterfly a common problem and there is a fix, I will try and find the link,

I'll save you the trouble, TickerKiller:
http://www.boxer-design.de/en/detail.asp?ID=66&pID=581

The butterfly valves of Bing begin after a while on the right side to rattle, since
no butterfly valve potentiometer sits there. Many regard this rattling as noises
of the valves or the axial play of the rocker arms. After correct adjusting and
still the noise is it arises the butterfly valve.

One can determine that easily, if with easily opened butterfly valve on the push
pull cable plate axially one shaken, the noise develops. Remedy creates there the
Tickerkiller so called. An adjuster by means of ball, which one can adjust easily,
the play from the wave gets. This is installed instead of the cap on the right side,
is noncorrosive, functions and looks super.

The rattle disappears. One saves thereby the purchase of a new butterfly valve.

A bit of loss of meaning in translation at times but you get the gist
