Any body going near Tarifa southern Spain at ANY time, be VERY careful of the wind. I know the road well, yet today not a particularly windy day, a sudden gust blew me into the overtaking lane without warning, luckily nothing was in it. I was one up with just a top box on, riding my 1200 GS, any body fully loaded would really give the wind something to push at. PLEASE DO NOT UNDERESTMATE THE WIND. :rob

Was there on Sunday. Where were you ? Up high before you drop down into the town coming from Gib or on the flat heading away from Tarifa ?

Hi Luke

I was coming back from Vejer and passed Tarifa climbing up towards the tops, as I said Tuesday was not really windy day, but around Tarifa you have to be aware of the strong gusts. The wind turbines are there for a reason. :D

Before it became windsurf/kitesurf capital of Europe for a while, Tarifa used to be known for it's high suicide rates due to the wind called 'the lift' driving folk crazy, I prefer to think of it as the totty capital of Spain :drool

I had a similar experience on the old Severn Bridge. Not sunny Spain but also prone to sudden gusts. The Yamaha I was on just switched lanes. No lean no steering from me. Very scary. The big GS is less prone to steering by pressure on foot pegs but all bikes will move sideways in a sudden gust.
