hiya, just got back from france, excellent trip,(if a trifle wet last monday)! strangest thing though, there were 4 of us,2 on 1150GSA'S,and 2 on those 1200 thingys, when we got to plymouth on way out, I couldn't find my tax disk. thought i hadn't put it back after changing tyre. when we checked the other 1150 that didn't have a tax disk either. they were both mounted on the lefthand footrest hanger and had snapped off on both bikes that morning! (must be down to vibration?) 1200's were ok, must be the only advantage they have got. anyone else experienced tax disk falling off?

trifle wet

I think `trifle wet`is a little bit of an understatement.Rode a 2000 mile round trip to Montpelier,to dip our toes in the Med,got so wet and cold, ended up in a McDonalds to try and dry out and get warm.seeing the locals wading through our puddles was abit of a laugh though:jibber

Common enough happening. There seem to be two types of tax disc holder on sale - one with a sort of casting mount, the other pressed steel. The casting one seems very susceptible to vibes, 'specially when mounted directly to the frame, eg footrest hanger. The pressed steel variety is more flexible and therefore less prone to snapping off.

DAMHIK :D

Probably Stolen

Umm probably stolen.. amazing how many banned riders still out on two wheels. Most grab a tax disc if they see a bike with a similar reg to keep coppers off guard the bike when they do a general walk by inspection.. dont work if they run a computer check.. but then these guys dont have insurance either and bikes probably in a false address too.
