Hi,

I have been asked to write a feature on adventure touring in Ireland for TBM - Trail Bike and Enduro Magazine.

We will be arriving into Dublin on the 26th Aug and leaving Belfast on the 3rd Sept. My plan is simple: I have a new GS F800 to test with a pillion, initially my thoughts are to head to Wicklow then onto Kerry, up the coast to Galway and Clifden. From there up to N. Ireland and round the coast.

A few things we want to do:
- some relatively easy off roading
- Some adventures - Kayaking, surfing, deep sea fishing, whiskey drinking, fly-fishing...etc
- stay a night in a big castle
- find some scenic camping spots
- meet up with any one else interested in a ride out..

Basically any suggestions/hints/contacts welcome... I will plough through the forum but feel free to contact me either through the site or [email protected]

Thanks

R

You need to talk to Richie, who's on here. I think he can tick a few of those boxes for you and in some of the nicest scenery in Ireland - the Beara peninsula in west Cork.:aidan

Ballycastle, (There is an outfit up there that does sea kayaking, powerboating etc-name escapes me at the moment), Bushmills for the whisky, Whiterocks & Portrush for surfing-surf schools & surfboards, bodyboards & kayaks for hire. Deep sea fishing trips can also be arranged at either Ballycastle or Portrush All within 20 miles of each other, you can include the Torr Head senic road from Cushendun to Ballycastle for the motorbike ride. All located on the North Antrim coast.
