Had Techlusion fitted with Remus Y Piece and Remus titanium end can. Im happy with the peformance but smells really rich.... Anyone got any good settings... using 1 oclock, 2 oclock etc...
Get the engine upto normal temp, go for a fastish run; go some where that you just pull up without upsetting traffic--you will need tools for a plug remove refit road side job--- put them in a bum bag its safer than a pocket.
Heres what to do (on your safe bit of road) hit approx. 5000rpm and hold it (any gear say 3rd for arguments sake) for about a minute if you can. Now the tricky bit, simultaneously hit the engine kill switch and pull in the clutch, DO NOT LET THE CLUTCH IN UNTIL YOU STOP.
ARE YOU SOMEWHERE SAFE-- away from traffic, bike safely on its stand.
Remove one plug (the easy one for you) look at the colour of the colour of the spark plug tip and electrode. If the colour is biscuit brown or golden then the mixture is not too rich or lean, if black and sooty then its too rich, grey going on white its seriously lean.
What you have just done is known as a plug chop, it is no where near as accurate as getting the whole set-up correctly adjusted by a knowledgeable bod on a dyno.
Your comment about smellng rich could well be the new exhaust burning off some of its initial corrosion inhibitor (oil) don't forget the freer flowing can is passing more fumes-if you wil and is bound to smell different to your old restrictive big bang quietner.
At the end of the day you may be able to arrive at a fairly good set-up by trial and error, you don't say if you've fitted a freer flowing air filter.
I got some advice from fellow GS ers on the tech site , If you have got a 1150 then try settings 3 , 4 ,4 ,8 which is a little more richer than the std settings if you have got the R259 system, it worked for me, found the std settings still to lean for my taste.
