I am taking my beast (well a GS1200) to Abersoch on Friday afternoon, leaving Huntingdon (back Monday afternoon) and looking for ideas on the best route?

I am thinking about going via Telford and cutting cross country via Bala?

Want to enjoy the best of North Wales by bike and would like a few ideas. Nothing off road as will be loaded to the max with 4 days stuff and sailing gear..

Thanks in advance if you can help..

Trust me now. ;)

The second part of Daves route seems to be the similar to mine from Bala (actually after a second look it's on the main road most of the way), but really, why take a shit route across England when you can take some lovely midlands twisties on the way?
There's a very short section of DC and of the A5 on this route but otherwise it's twisties (and good ones) all the way. :)

My plan was to motorway it to north of birmingham then drive by telford to get in to Wales. Will look at re route as I can't open the links you sent.. I have a MAC and they do not open everthing.

Went to South Wales last weekend via Stow on the Wold and did not touch any Motorway..

Wave to my mum and dad when you get there:thumb2

It's a nice beach as well, the dogs love it:thumb2

Get yourself further west than the A5, The A470 is a nice bike road, even consider getting to the coast near Aberdovey then following the coast road, the roads will be quieter, watch out for the troopers, though TBH its mainly on the A5 through Snowdonia where they will be lurking. There are some superb biking roads here, enjoy
