The first of the new Triumphs I suppose? The ones with 750 motor and the fairing with twin lamps. Common issues? (Sprag clutch iirc?)

Thank you.

Bugger , had an article on this but Jan clearout saw an end to it. Im sure it was a classic bike or classic motorcycle mechanics edition. I remember there being some issues owners couldnt sort, factory recalls etc. Overall it held no shocks, google back issues or Hinkley Triumph issues, you are right sprag clutch was an issue.

Here is a buyers guide

Sprag clutch..... WILL go, especially if the battery is low on juice.

and its an engine-out jobbie to replace..... so a bit of a bugger!

and the bikes are top heavy due to the spine frame.... but my Daytona 900 in yellow went well (in a straight line)
....was a big old bus for throwing round the corners tho'.....

I dont recon the Daytona 900 will ever be a classic.... the first of the speed triples maybe.

... and ran very lean. can cut out at lights just as you go to pull away. :blast
IF you fit comfortably on one - they're a lovely Bike that's well over engineered in every aspect i can think of.
My '93 900 Trophy triple gave me sciatica. :( Otherwise i'd probably still have it.

EDIT: yes - NOT a Daytona (i seem to have left brain in helmet today) - but they're all the bloody same modular build, so nyahhh! :P

I had a trophy 4. It gave more than a bit of trouble. Charging, carbs and constantly in the dealers. I liked it but eventually I gave it back. It was too much hassle. And the dealer didn't seem to be able to sort it. They lost the franchise soon after so mabey I was a victim of political senigans. JJH

They never made many 750's but their limited numbers doesn't make them any more desirable than a 900 Daytona of which they made many 1000's more

Yes starter sprags are an issue and yes the repair is expensive if you don't have the ability to sort it out yourself

The early bikes such as the 750 had very good build quality. There is a high interchangeability of parts throughout the model range so you should never come unstuck wanting parts/spares :thumb2
