This is my dilemma....

I've got one year old 1150GS and have happily done 18,000km since i bought it.

Only prob. is the fact that I'm beginning to see loads of new 1200's and I'm gettign the itch.

I've already tried the new 1200GS on one of BMW Italia's test days and it felt lighter, sharper etc but can't bring myself to get rid of my "magic carpet" (my girlfriends name for the 1150).

Sat. is the test day of the new K12 at Misano but I know my heart'll be elsewhere. Even though I can't resist the idea of a free blast on a bike that's much too close to the Blackbird for comfort (another story)

Help would be appreciated to rid me of this temptation once and for all.

Why not own all three bikes and you can call them

1150 Magic carpet

1200gs Bedroom Carpet

1200s Living room carpet

Understand your problem!

Went through the same dilemma myself a couple of weeks ago. The 1200GS is a fine bike, for all the reasons you gave, and eventually I will own one, but I'm still enjoying the 1150 too much to move on just yet. I haven't got NEAR to finding its limits and my abilities are still easily the biggest factor in how quickly it gets from A to B rather than any weight saving or power curve tweak. Two things finally killed the idea: a price rise of 400 quid and I thought through what else I could do with the money (advanced training, get a 2nd bike for greenlaning, more trips away, off road skills course, etc, etc).
Have fun deciding!
