Just looking for options for renewing my annual travel cover. I note Tesco have changed from Axa to Allianz as underwriter. The broker remains Rock Insurance.
I have looked at the policy and it still covers bikes as long as a helmet is worn. Usual exclusion for personal accident (lasting impact from losing a leg etc covered by the bike policy) which should not be confused with medical cover after an accident.

3 levels of cover offered, existing medical stuff covered. Base policy £71, premier £162. 20% off for Clubcard users.

My current policy is from Allianz via Allclear so it will be interesting how the renewal offer compares.

Hi, I had a look at Tesco. The summary of the cover showing what is and is not included does not exclude motorcycles. However, when I drilled deeper and read the small print in the actual Policy Booklet, Section 9 seems to exclude Motorcycle over 125cc. I phoned Tesco and they confirmed this. I'm not sure if I am fully understanding the wording of this exclusion.

This is why I mentioned not confusing the personal accident cover with medical cover. Tesco call it Travel Accident but it is the same as Personal Accident.

Section 9 - Travel Accident If you have an accident during your trip that causes physical bodily injury to you, we will pay you or your personal representatives up to the amount for ‘Travel accident’shown in the ‘Cover summary’ if the accident results in one of the following: 1. your death within a year of the accident; or 2. your permanent disability (including permanent loss of your sight or loss of use of a hand or foot) within three months of the accident. IMPORTANT: Compensation under this cover will not be paid to a personal representative who either caused the accident or is convicted in court for your murder, manslaughter orfor causing your permanent disability. The following exclusions apply:In addition to the general exclusions that apply to all cover, this policy will not provide cover for accidents directly or indirectly caused by the following:1. operating motorcycles with 125cc or larger enginecapacity;2. performing manual labour as a part of your occupation;or3. participation in military exercises

Note the text I have highlighted in bold. The 125cc exclusion only applies to this specific type of injury.

If you look at your motorcycle policy, you will see that it already has this Personal Accident cover for this type of injury.

So, if you fall down some steps and break your back, resulting in loss of use of your legs, this travel policy will pay out under "Personal Accident"

If you have the same injury but from a motorcycle accident then your motorcycle policy will pay out for Personal Accident. The sums paid might be different.

In either case, the travel policy will pay for your medical costs to patch you up and ship you home, in an air ambulance if needed

This is a common concern raised by people who see an exclusion in a particular section and then apply it to the whole policy. If you search the policy there are other exclusions relating to all types of motor vehicle as your motor insurance covers those risks.

For the General condition relating to motorcycles you need to see page 4 relating to Activities
