Well i did it. Despite what the top sticky thread says about not doing it.

I test rode the R1200GS and it was absolutely the muts nuts.:JB

The chap at the dealers said I could have it for about an hour and a half. it was closer to three hours by the time I got back (including a coffee stop). I think I p****d them off a bit, but not intentionally. In my defense I told him I'd worked out a route that was about a 100 miles which gave me a good mixture of hills, flats, twisties, dual carriageways, towns etc and he said 'alright - see you later'

I had so much fun. the bike handled beautifully, pulled away sweetly whenever I asked, even though a couple of times I know I was really in the wrong gear. Took a bit of getting used to the independent indicators and cancel, I kept hitting the hooter Thats about where my cancel is.

I remember at one point singing to myself this is the b****cks and I can't believe i'm doing it. I hit a sweet stretch of roads where I'd round the bend and find a car in the way, the road would straighten with nothing oncoming so zipped past, round a bend find a car... and so on for about half an hour:D.

I'm smitten, I felt like I a big kid again even though I'm well beyond 40:rob.

I ride a Fazer 600 which I bought from new in '03 I've loved that bike all these years but getting back on it to come home felt all wrong. The Fazer is a sit up ride bike (thats comfortable to me) but I felt all hunched up. My arms were too close together, my knees were tucked up and I'm 5' 7".

I'm going to have to sort out the pennies because now I've had a go I want one............:D:D:D:D

I've had my 1200 adv for 3 years now...wouldn't get rid now, too much love for it....:D
