test rode a 09 GSA today, keeping the 07

I test rode an 09 demo bike. I too got lots of vibration at 80mph ish. My 05, doesn't do this.

I know the 09s have higher compression, but it might not be the only cause.

my 08 gsa (oct) vibrates like hell from about 70-90. actually its so bad the bars are wobbling at these speeds which cant be good for corner grip. mines only got a 1000 mls on it - please tel me this will get better with running in !

At least two of us already did.
S'funny, cos I have a 09 spec bike and spend most of my time sat between 80-90 and don't notice any vibes.:nenau

Could be a running in thing, as mine's 8500 miles into it's run in.

iIthink its the fact yours is well run in that makes it seem smoother.these engines take ages to run in and 20000 is when it should be perfect.i went from an 07 model GSA to an 09 Model GSA and I feel its a better bike for me as the ergonomics are better and my engine is pretty smooth. It also seems faster and pulls loke a train.I always thought the white was best ,but now love the Red ,but heh wouldn't it be dull if we all had the same opinion:nenau

How many miles had it done?

When I was testing my 06 GSA they had one of the new (at the time) 08 models in. I took that for a ride and it was dreadful in comparison. The sad thing was that it'd only done 28 miles when I started, so it hadn't even been run in. Seems such a shame to have a demo bike that isn't even been run in.

Also my 06 bike has vibes, but they seem to move up and down the rev range depending on what mood the bikes in. I suspect it was due a service, as its been much sweeter since it had the cylinders synced.

Only improvement I found at the time 06->08 where the brakes. I've got the damned On/off servos. Funny I spent my entire time on sports bikes looking for hard initial bite. Now that i have it, I want my progressive feel back. Oh well. Grass is always greener and all that.

......at last, a thread when I can claim to be a Luddite on my 18m old '07GSA :)

I've never tried a 2006/2007 12GSA, but I did own a 2008 model

They changed the engine to a road bike variant in 08, nicked from the R12R to give more power.

Therefore I bet the difference is the cam profile etc

My 2008 R12GSA used to vibrate and buzz through the pegs @70-90mph and felt like i was using my chainsaw

If I go back to a 12GSA...............it seems the 2007 12GSA is the one to go for

Just a had a brilliant 1500 mile week ride on my 1150GSA..................one very nice bike, she is:thumb

WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO ?:nenau

couldnt agree more as good as the 1200 is i feel the extra monies needed to upgrade to a 1200 would be better spent elsewhere:thumb

mind you if i had lots of pennys then i would have both:D cos im a greedy git me:D

I wouldn't need to go back

I had both and when the hammer fell...................it was the 1150GSA that won

The 2008 12GSA went without a backward glance

The 1150GSA is the dog's bollocks

I test rode an 09 GSA and had no qualms in trading my 06GSA for it,it's not a huge leap but the 09 is a useful improvement,I got a fully specced bike for £300 more than the price of a bike I specced without Traction control, E.S.A. and tyre pressure monitors and of course a new pair of panniers-a deal so good that another forum member from Wales did the same deal a couple of days after me :augie
I was sceptical about the E.S.A. and kept my Wilbers from my 06 bike in case I didn't get on with it, the ride has proved superb in the short time that I've had the bike and I've since sold the Wilbers,it's early days yet but I'm enjoying the bike and have no regrets :thumb2

thanks adam, but can i just confirm that you had the vibration from new and it went as the miles built up. its not clear in either post. also have you done any mods that made a difference? many thanks

The engine was definitely lumpier all round from new and improved up to the 6K service.
It's got no cat and a provic, which frees things up somewhat.
