I am off to Wales in the morning to test the new tent & camping equip before the trip to France. Any road recomendations ? I will be coming up from Smog ridden Heathrow & hopefully staying at FForest fields(if I can just turn up)

Head towards Cardiff North junction with A470. Follow A470, and anything after Merthyr is fun. Stop at Superbites burgervan, just after Storey Arms down the hill on the right to find out the location of the camera van! Bikers meet at Abergavenny bus Station and the West End Cafe in Aberdovery. Most of the roads in Mid wales are excellent.:thumb2

THE BEST

They are all good,:rob

particularly the one that gets you out of England and into Wales:clap

My current fav is all roads north of Llandovery,I will be there 2moz at the west end cafe at 7.30am on my dark green 05 gs for brekkie then off for a spin before it gets busy with the weekend warriors, the police :bowwill be about as well 2moz coz its good weather and the number of deaths:eek: on days like this are getting concerning:tears

I loves Wales I do :JB

Cross into Wales on the old Severn Bridge.

Turn off the M48 as soon as you enter Wales. Follow signs for Monmouth until you get to the Mitsubishi Garage then take the B4235 road to Usk. In Usk take the B4598 road for Abergavenny.

Stop for a cuppa at Abergavenny bus station.

Depending on where you want to go, pick a route accordingly.

Ride to Hay on Wye via Llanthony & Capel y ffin (take the Hereford road from town and turn off into Llanfihangel Crucorney for the minor road)

Ride to Builth Wells via A40 & then A479 - fast A roads with lovely scenery. Watch out for camera vans.

Alternatively, now that I've looked where the campsite is, cut across the Cotswolds to Gloucester. Ride via Newent & Fownhope to Hereford. Take the Brecon/Kington road out of the city. Head towards Kington then Rhayader. Turn off for Hundred House just after Radnor. Lovely fast A roads.

The A44 from Oxford all the way to Radnor is a lovely road too.

Once at Hundred House you are spoilt for choice for roads to ride. Just stick to the minor roads as much as possible.

Try Brynych camp site about 2 miles out of Brecon heading towards Hereford,
nice showers and clean toilets.

Thanks guys. I am off in a minute. Have noted your suggestions. Can`t wait to get into Wales....:roll
