Just made it home after a brilliant week exploring Wales for the first time. Fantastic weather, great roads and and altogether first class week.
Nice to meet you all at the Abercrave Inn - thanks for the hospitality . :beerjug:
My TKC80s didn't make it back to Belgium. Close inpsection on the Channel Tunnel revealed worrying signs of canvas thread appearing through the rubber so as soon as I got off the train at Calais it was off to search for a new rear tyre. Needless to say I couldn't find a TKC80 for love or money so a very freindly Yamaha dealer fitted a new Michelin Anakee for me and I headed off home the last 200km with a TKC80 on the front and an Anakee on the back......actually it felt pretty OK but that was in warm dry conditions.
Thanks again everyone who helped me with sorting out some good places to visit and especilly to Durnsey and his missus for their hospitality . :thumb

PS Is it true the weather is always like that in Wales :D

Glad you enjoyed Wales and made it home safely.

Yes the weather is always like that, but don't tell everybody.

Glad to see you made it back,if you are in the area again call in.
Weather still very good as always, hope your second week goes as well.

Sorry we didnt get to meet up Marc, I got your message but no number. Glad you had a great time though

Cheers Tim

Do come again

... we'll keep a welcome in the hillside , etc

I took my wife for a blast up to Talybont-on-Usk today, superb weather and the Star Inn had a top notch bbq on ... followed by a further trundle over Cwm Cadlan and the Rhigos Mountain road, for a futher bbq at home and several bottles of Aussie plonk.

Outstanding

No worries Tim, I had a lovely ride up along the lake at Bala then over Snowdon and back again. Really fantastic scenery you have up there - I am very jealous . Belgium suddenly seems very flat and bland in comparison.....which is why I'm off down to Luxembourg on Thursday :D.....no point sitting at home when there's petrol in the tank and rubber on the tyres ;)

Pics - better late than never

Here's a few pics from my Welsh tour.
I camped at the 'FFOREST FIELDS' campsite off the A481 north of Builth Wells by a little place called 'Hundred House'. I can't praise this site enough. It was fantastic. Very friendly site owners, great pitches on lovely flat well mowed grass. Some small brooks flowing through the site into some small ponds. Loads of bird life and bats in the evening to keep the insect population down and the price of 6 quid a night included unlimited hot showers and washing up facilities. There was no traffic noise at all so it was really peaceful too. There are facilities for clothes washing and drying and free use of the site fridges and freezer if you want. 10/10 for one of the best camp sites I have ever visited. http://www.fforestfields.co.uk/

The owner of the site was also the owner of the hills in the background and he was kind enough to let me take the GS up there for an eagle eye view. What a treat.....there's not many places you can take a bike any distance onto virgin unridden terrein. This was a real highlight of the week.
In the pics above of the site you can see the ridge of the hills . I had to work my way up some intersting trails to reach the ridge then it was just me , the ferns and the sheep.....

Rode up and over Snowdon (well as much as I could) and enjoyed the views up there too.

Found some lovely off road trails in the Elan Valley (...at least I think it was the Elan Valley) . Only trouble was I was on my own, no mobile phone reception out there and no one knew I was there so prudence dictated no heroics so I could only take a little look at some of the gentle stuff before heading back to the tarmac.

Day after day of hot weather and sunshine can take it's toll so to escape I headed underground. Just north of Abercrave (Abercraf) there are some caves which are well worth a visit - especially on a hot day. It was like walking out of the heat into a fridge :D ....not a lot of head room in some places though....those welsh miners must have all been really short little fellas ;)

Hi! :bounce1

Me and Knut (k-nut) are going to Wales after the Hogroast too!
I think we are going to stay at Dolgellau for two nights, from Tuesday to Thursday, so we hope to ride around and see the north of Wales on Wednesday!

I guess we'll meet at the Hogroast! :bounce1

:) Liv.
