I've just had one of my 1150 Adv panniers resprayed by a local chap in Exeter, who's done a smashing job. Rather than go down the Smoothrite Silver, rattle can job, I left him with the task of matching the paint. He found that Citroen Silver, Number 3, was the closest match in colour, but was a tad bright and shiney by comparison. To counter the brightness, he added some matting agent to the lacquer top coat and the result is a very nicely sprayed pannier that's just slightly brighter than the original ones. Bearing in mind we're comparing a newly painted pannier against a 13 year old one, i'd say it's pretty damn close and i'm very happy with the result. So happy, i'll be getting any other silver stuff sprayed by him as well. Just thought i'd pass on the paint info for anyone looking at a proper spray job on the appropriate parts of their GS's. :thumby:

When I said pannier it was just a generic description. I had my top box done as it fell off the bike and suffered some minor damage, and I wanted to see how well the repair/respray went, given the difficulty of matching the shitty silver that BMW use and wont/are unable to give you any information on.
My next task will be to take the two scabbiest panniers, and a fork bridge, down and get them done as well!:thumb2
