Okay, I guess some of you may remember me hinting at the fact I had an off at beginning of July.I am sat here with a broken ankle as a result.:tears

I am slowly getting round to doing things at my own pace,No sense in rushing as I have another 3 weeks before cast is off.:type

(gedonwidit),,okay.

I had my SP111 on the bike at the time. It sustained "minor" injuries.A few knocks from gravel road. The antenna split open but not all the way.:eek:I managed to pop it back in place.:roll

Before doing this I switched it on to see if any damage was done. The "thing" still thinks we are in Scotland on the A99 where accident happened.(I am 539 miles away from there in B'Ham.)!!

I attatched the supplied Garmin "Car power" plug with speaker attatched to a spare battery I have in kitchen and went out the back door to "attract" satelites.(sp).

After a few minutes the voice tells me to proceed north for 539 miles, but the view on screen zooms out to 120 miles and shows most of U.K.
If I then press enter button to change screen to "electronic dash" and again to step by step route listed, the "journey" carries on from where I dropped the bike.

"She" says is damaged,,I say" it's the processor.":nenau

I have pressed the "Quit" button repeatedly to try and get back to "my house" but all that happens is I am going round in circles and not what I am expecting.:spitfire

I do remember sometimes in the house when it fails to get any reception there is a menu asking to use indoors,Stored without batteries or moved to another location.!!.Is this what I have to do to get it right??

TIA>

Hi Pat,

My 2720 does the same. If I turn it off when out somewhere, I turn it back on at home and after asking if I am indoors (because of no sat. signal), it brings up the location where it was turned off.

l have to power up outside home to get full satelite reception which will then relocate GPS to current position.

Is your lead long enough to do this or have you fitted charged batteries? Mine will sometimes take a few minutes to get sufficient sat' info to relocate.

If it will not relocate to home having received a good signal then there may be damage.

Hope not, they are pretty robust. Fingers crossed!!

IIRC my SPIII took about 10 minutes to realise where it was after I bought it. I just parked in the middle of a car park and waited. As a comparrison the 2610 took about 2 minutes.

To stop it zooming out to show "most of the UK" you probably have to turn Autozoom off. :thumb2

Many thanks for your reply.

I probably forgot to mention this but,, after it has zoomed out to 120 miles showing "most of U.K.", I manually zoom in and can get to 10 miles which shows near enough to where I am.

If I go into route and stop the "journey" will that revert all back to normal. :nenau?
I suspect it will but don't really want to bugger it up any more than it is.

What a time to find out 3rdPFT doesn't cover me for added accessories.:tears

Thanks again.:roll

Stop the journey - lets face it that particular route is finished now anyway. The SPIII is pretty tough - I'm sure there's a photo on here somewhere of Paneuropeans Pan upside down in a ditch, with his SPIII under the lot - and it still worked. :thumb2

Taff,

Yea, I tought I would have to do something like that.
I agree with you THAT journey is definitely finished,(but not forgotten).:tears

I have seen a photo of a Pan Euro upside down. Good way to undo the oil drainage bolt.:thumb

John.

I did try my house insurance,, They said as it was attatched to the bike ,,,no chance.:spitfire I had thought it would be covered by them as items which can be removed and taken elsewhere used to be covered.,,Items like Cd's (for a party!!) Books to take to hospital,That type of thing...:nenau
BUT as my Mortgage lender changed to a new "supplier" I guess that's not on.
ZURICH ,,,, Can't remember how the add goes.

Not to worry.

Pat

It should be ok, it sounds like the thing is working but just a bit confused.

It will take a little while to find it's location (up to 20 minutes) when you turn it on due to the nature of the way GPS works. I seem to recall that there is a way to help it in this by giving it a rough position, but I can't remmeber exactly how, and I've got rid of both my SPIIIs now.

All sorted now(I think),,

I rigged up the same equipment and stepped out to the back garden. (Bloody hell, that grass is tall!!)
Took a few minutes as I was watching the "GPS Info" screen to see the indicators reach up and go down. :clap Eventually, "it" located I was in Birmingham(U.K.):bow

I pressed a few buttons like "quit"-- zoom in/out,--Page". Then I saw my road indicated.,, The thing has never beeen accurate in my addy.always showing number 5 as my house instead of 9.:loopy

Thanks for your help and replies on this.

STEVE.

Very true in what you say.

Altho, it's not down as a "Home" address.:bounce1 The only other Address I have is of a mates house. He has a ruddy great big alsation in his back garden to welcome aforementioned scrotes.

Be Safe.
