The 2nd "Ride To The Wall" - 10th Oct 2009

To pinch a line from Max Boyce, "I was There !"

Seeing as the Start was only 2 miles from home and the Memorial only 8 miles,or so,it would have been wrong to miss such a worthwhile Event. I met up with 4 workmates and another couple of Guys and rode to Drayton. I met "Explorer" from this Parish there and saw a number of GSs' that may or may not be known round here. Given the huge turnout,i think that the Marshalling and Organisation coped pretty well.
After the Memorial Service,4 of us went for a run to Matlock, just to enjoy a Ride Out.

All in All,a very good Day.

Good to see a few Bimmers amongst the 5000 odd bikes, although the great British eccentricity shone through with a Tuk-Tuk joining in, a gent on what appeared to be a shed built Honda C90 with some smart upswept & bandaged pipe and several 'L' plated Twist & Go 'peds.

Where else would all this lot come together for a simple act of remembrance?

Twas a great event filled with emotion and the Spitfire was fabbo.

Brilliant stuff..

Was lucky enough to be there with the wife - I was gobsmacked by the number of bikes and the response. We bikers tend to get bad press but this was stunning!
