Is coming to London next year, on loan from France and being displayed in the British Museum.

For anyone who has never seen it, it is (as Michelin say) worth a detour.

As a member of the museum, I’ll be lucky enough to enjoy a private viewing and, I hope, a talk on it.

Just been reading this. That’s a shame as I was hoping to see it next year. Oh well, I’ll go when it goes back to France.

I took my young kids to see it in the early noughties. The thing they remember about it more than anything was William being referred to as William the Bastard in the pre talk.........:D

I stopped off to view it in the mid eighties, surprised at the length of it, I always assumed it was a beach towel sized thing :D
Did you know the tapestry has 623 men, 190 horses, 37 ships, 35 dogs, 3 women…and 93 penises, 88 of them belong to horses.

Should stay where it is. I thought it was/is very well displayed.

Let’s hope no armholes tfy and damage it.

I last visited on a cycling holiday 20 years ago with the now Mrs T (who is a fluent in French)

As we went to reception the lady greeted us and said something about being dressed for riding on bicycles. Wanting to impress my wife with my excellent French speaking abilities, I replied that I loved wearing Lycra.

The lady burst out laughing, as did my wife. Apparently what I actually said was that “I wanted to love her in Lycra!”

They still let us in, and it was an interesting bit of history to look at, but not something i yearn to do again

Can I be the first nerd to point out that it's actually an embroidery, not a tapestry. This is because it doesn't use any of the techniques used in carpet making.

I seem to remember an exhibition at Edinburgh castle suggesting that sections of it were made in Scotland but my memory may be tricking me.
