low speed filtering and car changing lane did the side swipe...... no damage on the other side.

reckon the boxer saved his riders leg...... been loaned the K and love it..... but think i'll stick to R. just love the way the pegs don't get touched.

Had a similar experience last October when side swiped by a taxi, GS took the side out of the taxi and came off relatively unscathed apart from the cosmetic damage. No doubt my leg was saved by the boxer engine as I was brusied from knee to ankle, guaranteed it would have been a lot worse if it hadn't been for the engine.

That's my boss's bike. He is off to Italy next week on a biking trip and it's been really difficult to arrange for a loan / hire bike that he can use to do this (apparently it's just been arranged). On the other hand Vines of Guildofrd have been treating him really well and by all accounts are going above and beyond the call to duty for him.

Similarly I can testify to the flat twin crash protection. A car side swiped m in fulham a few years back on my old R850.

The left hand side of the bike stoofed straight into the car.

Car driver unable to open car door :) and major bodywork damage :)

I got 1 small extra scuff on the cylinder head and a cracked indicator.

Oh, and a small ish bruise on the arse as I fell off.

Driver tried to leave the scene too, much to the amusement of the spectators who amusingly stopped around.

Thereby disproving the local myth about lack of jehovas witnesses
(just jehovas didn'tseennuffink)

Thank god for boxers.

I was coming down the Route Napoleon on the way home from the Stella last year, and someone did a u-turn out of a car park right in front of me. I swerved left, but he kept coming, and the right hand pot and crash bar, ripped most of the front of his Citroen apart (well, they're not the strongest of cars), and I went flying into a ditch on the side of the road. Only thing I hurt was my kneecap which clipped the car on the way over it. If the crash bars and engine hadn't hit the car, I could have been much worse off. Good old Bavarian metal.

Then the bike flipped over, and the other crash bar bent back, but only superficial damage. Having said that, the repair bill was nearly 7000 euros by the time they replaced the tank (which only had a tiny scratch and dent on it), the exhaust, engine bars etc...Like a new bike afterwards...
