I finally got around to writing-up my guide to the cheap way of adding Fog or Spot lights to 1200GS. Total cost = £68 :D

Got a bit carried away with the write-up, so it's a kind of 'light fitting for Dummies' step-by-step with pictures, diagrams and parts list. Hopefully someone will find it useful. :)

I couldn't upload it on this site (file too big, despite compressing images), so you can find it here: http://www.hsl-consulting.co.uk/1200gs spotlights.doc

OK, enough now - I'm missing 'Lost'

:thumb Good work chap!!

Would you mind id we stick it in the FAQ section???
You'd be imortalised then ;)

Cheers

Seriously excellent write-up, to the extent that a complete DIY-phobe is now considering fitting some lights.

The only potential issue I can see for me is sourcing the brackets. Are there any other common applications for such brackets, and therefore other supply sources I should look at?

Cheers

There's a thing called a "Mirror Mount" used for mounting mobile (PMR, CB, HAM) radio aerials to trucks. Usually made out of fairly thick anodised aluminium, and available from virtually anywhere that sells radio gear. They even come pre-drilled. :thumb

GOnzo,

Try phoning Aladdin's cave http://www.aladdinscave.co.uk/index.dwt they do mail order.

(or if you're struggling I'd be happy to pick up the kit of mounting bits same I used and stick them in the post to you... PM me?)

Paul

PS: thanks for kind comments :thumb

Cheers and thanks for the kind offer of help. I'll store this one away (hopefully not for too long) for when I'm motivated!

Ok could you please advise as to where I can get a pair of Hella FF50s. Searched the web unable to find any?

Got mine from Germany via eBay - 100% feedback and over 3,000 sales, so I figured it was a safe bet! He's also got good deals on bulbs, so stock up while you're there and make the postage worthwhile.

Try this:

PS: "FERNSCHEINWERFER" is Spots, the other one is Fogs (thank-you Babelfish)
