Thanks to all our customers new & old who braved the freezing conditions last week to visit us at the London Bike Show.
I think the general feeling was there were not as many exhibitors as in previous years but the majority who did attend were serious punters looking to make purchases ahead of the forthcoming biking season.
For those who were not able to make it perhaps we will see you at the Overlander Day at the Ace Cafe on Sunday 19th February. Just like the London Show, Stahlkoffer will pay the freighting costs on ANY orders placed at the Overlander Day.

I have to say that I've only been once, and Was Not impressed..

Haven't read a decent review of the latest show yet either.. again, main complaint is very very poor value for money..

+1 on the poor value for money - again! - it was the same last year and this year will be my last year too. £25 for the ticket, £20 rail ticket to get there(actually not a bad deal) Couple of beers and a pasty £15 - and we are up to £60 or there abouts - so if you only get a 10% show discount you need to spend £600 or so just to break even!
IMO the NEC show is much better value - a lot more exhibitors there and the cost of the "Revolution" show is an optional extra not lumped in with the main admission ticket.
Its a vicious circle - not many people - need to make money - put up cost to get in - put up cost to exhibit - less traders go - less to see - less people go - less money made - and so on - will be £30 next year , wait and see!

Not poor value for me, £25 to get in + £10 to park:eek:

Now, Bike safe £45.....got the last place for free thanks bromley :beerjug: and I went to get a new suit and picked a suit Rukka Armas for ........ they wanted £1700 I:blagblah paid £1550 :augie and got to say Hi to Andy, not seen him for some time. So all in all for me a good show. I did go with the intention of getting a deal on a new suit

bike shows

IMO all the bike shows are a rip off....paying big entry fees to get into a SHOP!!most of the gear for sale is old stock the vendors just want to shift and as far as iv seen theres no big savings,we all keep going every year but i decided after last years NEC that was my last. But i guess there are plenty of people ready to go,get mugged and come away happy......

It is indeed, thats why we don't do them anymore and many more companies are pulling out. Paying to get into a shop is wrong, and the cost for us to go is astronomical we can't afford to do more than 10% and assuming you aren't a choice wally we'd normally be happy to alter a few prices when purse strings are tight!
Nowhere near as much point in going now, a massive shame!

I went.

I live / work not far away.

Bought my ticket in advance.

Friday afternoon.

Three hours.

Saw everything I wanted to see on the bike front.

Bought some tat.

Bumped into a couple of chums.

Had a chat.

Went for a meal in Limehouse.

Not a bad time at all, all without going to Brum.

Shame to put these comments on Bernie's posting.

I do not normally go but went with a friend who is getting into motorcycling. Went along to sit on lots of bikes in one place so that he could get a feel for what type/style he wanted and he likes the sitting and overall positioning of the Hornet 600. Would have taken a lot of driving around all the dealers to find that out so saved time and fuel.
He also had a free go on a 125 with the Get-On lot (thank you Sarah :drool) and really enjoyed it. Now he is waiting for his free 1 hour session with them.

It all depends on what you want out of the shows. I have my bike and clothing already and am not looking at changing my bike nor buy anything else so that's why these shows are generally not for me.

Anyway, let's hope the Caravan show from the 14th Feb is much better :augie

Actually, I saved 203 quid by going. I poked Carole Nash about my seriously inflated renewal.

1. On wrong scheme with underwriter since going from an 02 to 11 bike, and they didnt actually review the products available.

2. Class 1 business use has two options personal or business, I had the benefit of 'both' even though they knew I was just an employee. I could have been delivering homemade pizza....

That said, I didn't buy anything else... So see you next year.

They made a good effort, we have to support biker events i am sure its a big expense to exibit at one of these shows.
If you want expensive try Connemara to London in a campervan round trip.

Been to a few, 'Show's' which should be just that, an opportunity for the business to show their wares to a likeminded public.
The entry fee should be sufficient that the punter is abe to leave at the end of the day having had his money's worth. Be it food, drink or goods.
Not to be fleeced on arrival and at every opportunity thereafter during the day.
The Businesses are also fleeced on arrival with eyewatering site fees, and have to keep to certain guidlines dictated by the land/building owners.
Unfortunately the tat you see for sale makes the most turnover and profit, which benefits the Landowner and tat seller.
Not the businesses coming and selling genuine biker focused goods.

Landowners through their own corporate greed, seem to continue this cycle irrespective of market demands. Making their facilities increasingly corporate = higher costs.
The last bikers show i went to resembled a bouncy castle, clothes and teddybear orgy.
An alternative to this twattish format should be an open farmers field somewhere with bikers showing and selling bikers stuff to bikers.

oh dear :blagblah:blagblah:blagblah...:blast
