So what's the most high milega resistant dual puropse tyre out there for R1xxxGS?

Michelin Tourance
Mezeler Enduro 4

?

I think you might mean Michelin Anakee because Metzeler make the Tourance which is the newer version of the Enduro 4. I have used both Metezlers over the years with very good mileage from both. The Enduro 4 seemed to end up with uneven tread wear known as 'cupping' on the front which seems less of a problem on the Tourance. In both cases mileage of 20,000km is possible depending on how and where you ride. Neither are much good if you go off road beyond gravel. In mud and sand they are both pretty crap - then you would need TKC80's and you would be lucky to see much above 8000km from them .

I am now using Tourance tyres front and rear. But I have noticed a slow speed wobble at the front. Is that because of the tread pattern on the tarmac or my nervous reaction to manic arab drivers in 180kms GMC's slicing past?

Is it actually a wobble? I only ask because I've had a problem with a couple of front Tourances which results in a slight headshake of the handlebars at low speed (typically 25-40mph). The 'wobble' disappeared completely as soon as I put as much a finger back on the handlebars. If you do a search, you'll find references to a duff batch of Tourances - I've switched tyres for a while until it's sorted...

Yep, my Enduro 4 also wores out strangely in front - one side a bit more than other.

Right about the soft terrain. Thinking about taking a additional pair of TKC80s or Karoos with me if i do some travelling sections offroad. Good idea?

You should expect the Metzeler Tourance to last almost twice the milage of the Michelin Anakee. So the Tourance is the obvious choice when milage is the issue.

But the Anakee has much better grip on wet and/or cold blacktop so Anakee is my personal favourite.

Neither of these two tires are any good for offroad use. Gravel road reasonable OK but zero grip on wet grass or mud.

Yep, that's an idea from the previous post "replacing tyres on the road". Ideal for me would be to use Tourances on the road and TKCs or Karoos on gravel and sandroads. So if i plan one part of the trip mostly "offroad" i'll put them on, otherwise run on dual purposes. Because the TKCs and especially Karoos don't resist high mileage on tarmac, and dual purposes Enduro 4 or Tourance are crap on softer terrain.

But seems like replacing them vice-versa is too much hassle...

tourance typres now up to 18,000 miles

i do a lot of motorway riding and im fairly soft on brakes etc - i have got that tyre goo for keeping punctures at bay and apparently that also helps to distribute the heat form the centre of the tyre - therefore making the typres last even longer.

I have abot 2000 left on the rear and i need to change the front - so yes the metzler is doing the milage !

I`m getting around 12,000 miles from my Pirelli MT90 Scorpions.

But I`m not a fat cnut and I don`t go off road.
