Looking for accomodation but all the place I've tried so far are booked up. I started looking several months ago!

Anyone know of a place that has space on and around the first of July?

B an B places few and far between in the Somme region (in the sticks) and they have been booked up for years for the centenary of 1st July 1916. Plenty of camping sites to choose from or try hotel accom in Amiens Arras or maybe Lille. :thumb2. Im up that way end of Feb for a week to beat the rush.

Orchard Farm

Try Martin and Kate Pegler at Orchard Farm Combles

He is a GSER

Hotel de la Basilique in Albert http://www.hoteldelabasilique.fr/. Proper family run French hotel run by Didier and Sandy Petit, excellent food, bike-friendly, right in the centre of Albert and perfect centre for exploring the Somme. Stayed there many times, will be going back!

Somme Accommodation

Take a look at www.ownersdirect.co.uk . I have used a number of these properties over the years and have never been disappointed. Of course you will need to take a pillion as these are self catering in the main and someone will need to do the washing up. Good luck, great cause.

Have stayed here before, thoroughly recommended

Yeah, I stayed there last year. An added benefit is that it is handily placed for the "Circuit de Monuments" ( The Memorial Route): a signed circular route that takes in all the main 'sights' in the area. I particularly liked the South African cemetary and attached museum. Recommended.
- but be aware, if you want to get up to the Ypres Salient, it is quite a slog to get up there
