Went to take my bike out yesterday only to find some scrote has been at it. They've forced the steering lock (I'll never use one of them again) and stripped the wires from the ignition.

I'm in the Leith area and only chose to move to the building I'm in because it had 'secure' parking underneath the garden area, turns out they are quite rife with little bagheeds.

The Police came to get a statement from me and informed me there seems to be a bout of motorcycle thefts at the minute. What surprised me is the fact they seem to be targeting underground parking garages. Apparently they designated about 4-5 officers to an operation called 'Quarter Light' to have a police presence in these type of areas across Edinburgh.

I'm absolutely gutted as I've never had anybody try to steal my bikes before! I now have to try and get it to Dalkeith to have it repaired. They've always been quite helpful up there, however, when I think about putting a bike in to a main dealer my wallet pocket aches. My excess is £350 on my insurance so I'm more than likely going to have to foot the bill myself which brings a tear to my eye!! I do have a gear box leak as well so maybe I'll just get the lot done in a one'er. :tears

Hey ho...

Thought I'd put this up on here anyway just in case any of you are in the area... Keep an eye out.

thanks for the info,a friend just had his ccm nicked it was found in pilton yesterday!

I am sure if you phoned Dalkeith they would send their van round to collect. They are aye out & about anyway (and even collect / return bikes after servicing in the winter).

Spoke with the Mottorad Central today and they are coming to pick it up :bow.

I get AA cover with my bank account, when I phoned them up on Tuesday to come pick the bike up, they said they couldn't as it was classed as vandalism. When the Police came out they told me to phone back with the crime number as it was now classed as an attempted theft. I phoned them back this morning and was greeted by the same robotic answer. God damn Bandito's!!:eh

Heading up to Skye this weekend for what was going to be an adventure weekend, however it now might be a sensory numbing weekend!

At least the bastards didn't get the bike, I'd cut their fucking hands off If I caught them.......................

Sorry to hear that. It does sound like kids looking for a bit of fun, if it had been professional Cnuts there would have been a space where it should have been parked.

Bike Insurance doubled and car insurance increased by 20% as a result of my bike being nicked last year. Bit of Sharia law in Embra might be no bad thing!

My bike insurance fella stated a new one the other day when i insured the GSA and that was that the insurance would be void should the steering lock not be active when parked up. So just be careful if you were thinking of no longer using this function, i had never had this line read off to me in the past so thought i would share it.

At least the bike didnt get pinched still a pain in the behind none the less.

Hope you get it sorted out for the weekend.

Still waiting for Motorrad Central to get back to me about picking my bike up. They did say they were busy at the minute though. Anybody know of another garage in the Edinburgh area that could do the work?
