Second question of the week for me. I opened the headlight shell up to trace some aftermarket wiring that went in there and which terminted in a couple of SAE connectors either side of the tank. It looks like they were taped into a cluster of 4 very light guage wires (grey/black, gree/black, brown and black) with the live side taped to the grey/black and the earth side to the brown. I am guessing that this was once the cluster of wires for the Tach and would have had a plug connector on it? Can anyone confirm please.

I will just remove the aftermarket wiring and secure and tape up the 4 strays that come out of the loom but it would be nice to know what they are for.

Well I hope I guessed right, the wires all out and tidy now. Brings one other question and I apologise for this one but I dont have an owners book and it was the early 90s that I last owned an airhead. When I turn the key to position 1 the tail and park lamps illuminate, when I go to position 2 they go out but the warning lights on the panel come on. The pass button works for the high beam but otherwise the lights dont come on at all. I think this is right and they are off until the engine starts but that is from memory (so every chance I got that wrong). Can anyone confirm please.

Ignition switch works like that on mine. 1st stop, parking lights, second stop, ignition but no lights, final stop, ignition and lights.
