Hi all

Started getting a bity twitchy about my 5am starts and the prospect of being the first to crack the ice on the back roads, so I thought thermometer like most of the cages and riceburners come with these days would be in order. Found the wunderlik version, but at 40notes plus it is battery powered and can't be seen in the dark, so heres my home made version with ice alarm at 3 degrees C, backlight and powered by the bike electrics

Chris, 5am, cracking the ice? your having us on. How come the thermometer says it's 120C, I reckon your really waiting in Egypt for the end of the Dakar. If not, good on you and take it easy out there.
Regards Tim

Hey guv where did you get that thermo ?

Home made, but the display module came from radio spares

If yer interested, I could run one up for ya [just making one for Gavin Bell]

I've got the Wunderlich one.

It's battery powered, and looks very nice in the top yoke. Well made too.

OK, so it doesn't light up, but a quick glance as you pass a streetlight tells you all you need to know.

Can't wait until summer, when I get to use the bit above the 10deg line

What do you do if you hit ice 50m before the street light?

I suppose you ask yourself why you didn't ask that nice chap to make you one with a backlight:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I fall off.

But then I wouldn't have got the bike out of the garage in the first place ;)

just put the wunderlich one on,another decorative part only methinks:eek:
I am no scientist/innovator :o But I think the heat/airflow from the oilcooler is forced towards the topfork clamp/yoke? Where the tempguage is mounted.:firemth
I suppose it will make it summer temps for longer eh Animal?

yup thats what I found when I made the first version, I now have the sensor on a length of wire so that it can be mounted away from the radiator, the reading was immediately 2degrees lower on the day that I moved it

Well I shoulda known and bought one from a man who knows :(
and you saved 40 quid:beer: cheers Chris.:)

send the bugga back to whoever ya got it from, n tell em it's no good, then i'll make ya one:cool:

So where does the kitchen sink, microwave, carpet and curtains go. Change the bike for a Harley and then you can add lots more accessories to it. Try letting your body tell you the obvious eg if theres ice then its bloddy freezing outside. Bbbbbrrrrrrrrrr.

It was a present,honest:o
Each to their own extra's eh?

Touratech sink in stainless or ali to match the panniers?:bounce1
